May 3, 2023 · Wendy Scholten · Belgian Youngsters Auction May 2023
In times when many a horse auction exclusively takes place online, the Belgian Youngsters Auction has chosen to present the horses live to the public. On Saturday-night 13 May the youngsters auction will be held during the international CSI3* show at Bonheiden, Belgium.
On the box of the Belgian Youngsters Auction ride Luk Van Puymbroeck and Valentijn De Bock, this time assisted by Daniel Boudrenghien, a well-known breeder from Belgian Wallonia. That also explains why the name Flanders Youngsters Auction was abandoned. Some of the products from the celebrated studfarm from Daniel Boudrenghien are top-class sires such as Ogano Sitte and Ugano Sitte.
The first edition was held last year at CSI Zandhoven. “We found a superb successor in Bonheiden, it’s a location with a strong VIP and professional character. We will show the horses in hand in the ring, while at the same time the fee jumping videos are shown on the big screen”, Valentijn De Bock explains.
The 18 young jumping horses in the age of 2, 3 and 4 years were first selected on the basis of their free jumping performance and then clinically and X-ray examined at the highly reputable Faculty of Veterinary Medicine of Ghent University.
Resounding names
“I believe that we have a very fine lot of horses of a quality no other auction offers. We have offspring from proven sires such as Kashmir Van Schuttershof, Eldorado van de Zeshoek and Cornet Obolensky, but we also offer the first 3-yr-old by Ermitage Kalone for sale. Above all the horse itself matters, of course, although resounding names are absolutely a plus in an auction”, says Valentijn De Bock.
The damlines of Aganix du Seigneur, Verdi, Chellano Z, Calido I, Emilion and Romeo 88 are represented. There are also products from 1.60m Grand Prix grandams, such as Toto van d’Abelendreef (Chacfly PS), Ottorongo Sitte (Ottorongo Alpha Z) and Kingsley Van Schuttershof (Kashmir Van Schuttershof). The latter is a grandson of Jessica Springsteen’s highly successful 1.60m Grand Prix mare RMF Swinny du Parc. Another interesting one is Colombia LVP (Cornet Obolensky) whose grandam was active at 1.50m level.
Auction opens on 10 May
The current collection can be found here. Besides bidding on the spot, it is also possible to place bids by telephone or online. The online auction even opens on Wednesday 10 May.
Next date:
Belgian Youngsters Auction has already scheduled a second date: 30 September during the biggest breeding event from Daniel Boudrenghien in Ghlin. The plan is to have these horses show their freejumping talent on the spot as the accommodation is extremely suitable for this.
